Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 350°F.
  2. Take a large skillet and cook the ground Italian sausage or beef over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces with a spatula as it cooks. Cook until it’s browned. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  3. While the meat cooks, slice your slider buns horizontally, separating the top and bottom halves.
  4. Place the bottom half of the slider buns in a greased baking dish.
  5. Spread half of the pizza sauce over the bottom buns.
  6. Add half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  7. Layer the cooked meat over the cheese. At this stage, add your optional toppings like sliced pepperoni, black olives, diced bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the meat and toppings.
  9. Place the top half of the slider buns on top of the cheese.
  10. Mix the melted butter, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried basil, and a pinch of salt and bell pepper in a mixing bowl.
  11. Brush the butter over the tops of each slider bun.
  12. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the sliders are heated.
  13. Remove the foil and bake for 5-10 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and slightly crispy.
  14. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before cutting along the bun lines to make individual sliders.
  15. If desired, serve your delicious pizza sliders with extra pizza sauce for dipping.

Tips for Reheating

Pizza Sliders

If you enjoy cold, leftover pizza sliders, you might not have an issue consuming them as they are. However, I prefer to enjoy reheated leftovers.

To reheat Pizza Sliders, you can follow these steps:

  1. Wrap the leftover sliders in aluminum foil.
  2. Bake slider pizza in an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C) for approximately 10 minutes.
  3. You can use your air fryer if you don’t want to reheat them. Set the air fryer to 350°F and heat the sliders for about 5 minutes.

This will restore the warmth and deliciousness of your pizza sliders, making them enjoyable again.

Tips To Prevent Your Slider Pizza Become Soggy

Adding toppings to pizza sliders can be delicious, but taking steps to prevent them from making them soggy is important. Here are some additional topping tips to ensure your pizza sliders stay delicious and not overly moist:

  1. Pre-cook Moist Ingredients: If you plan to add ingredients like mushrooms, bell peppers, or onions, consider sautéing or pre-cooking them before adding them to the sliders. It will help remove excess moisture and prevent sogginess.
  2. Pat Dry: For toppings like sliced tomatoes or fresh basil leaves, pat them dry with a paper towel before placing them on the sliders. This will remove excess moisture.
  3. Layering: Place ingredients like pepperoni, olives, and sliced meats between layers of cheese or other toppings to create a barrier that can prevent the sauce from soaking into the bread.
  4. Thin Layer of Sauce: Use a thin layer of pizza sauce rather than overloading the sliders with sauce. A little goes a long way in flavor; excess sauce can make the buns soggy.
  5. Cheese as a Barrier: Consider adding a layer of cheese under and over the toppings. This barrier can help prevent the sliders from becoming too soggy.

Wrapping Up

Pizza sliders are a versatile and delectable treat that combines the beloved flavors of pizza in a convenient, bite-sized form. Whether served as an appetizer, snack, or even a main course, these miniature delights are a hit among kids and adults alike.

With endless customization options for toppings and a straightforward reheating process, pizza sliders are delicious and easy to make and enjoy.
